The IT department has a full-time opportunity for a Helpdesk Technician/Junior Systems Administrator to monitor, troubleshoot implement, and support technical systems and operations. Apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues as part of the overall effort to provide the highest quality service in support of the organization’s administrative and operational functions. Additionally, assist with systems administration tasks and help determine which tasks and procedures need to become part of the Helpdesk toolkit or responsibilities. Provide oversight to ensure adherence to standards for identity and access profiles across systems such as Active Directory, Exchange, and file sharing, as well as other specialized applications.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Provide 1st tier support for desktop, server, storage and network systems
  • Participate in the design, planning and implementation of projects
  • Actively monitor the health of core systems, i.e. servers, 3rd party applications, and email/internet security appliances
  • Provide review and oversight of critical procedures such as account creation, backup jobs, and exchange maintenance to ensure requirements for effectiveness and security are being met
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
  • Assist in the planning, design, and development of new application and enhancements to existing applications
  • Provide key transitional support during the development and implementation of a simplified client computing platform to deliver a more reliable, accessible, and easier to use environment
  • Assist the Network Administrator in preparing detailed documentation of systems, services, applications, security, and controls
  • Assist with maintenance and operations of disaster recovery

 Qualified candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • At least 1-3 years of experience in network/systems Help Desk role or equivalent education
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Windows, Windows Server, and application virtualization technologies and methodologies
  • Experience administering Active Directory
  • Advanced knowledge of network and PC operating systems
  • Strong grasp of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Experience with core software applications such as VMWare, Microsoft Office, and Active Directory
  • Experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products
  • Ability to patiently interact, teach, and communicate effectively regarding system and data needs with diverse users having a wide range of computer and analytical skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours as required including weekends
